Video: St. Louis Police Officer Carried Away by Fleeing Suspected Thief

A St. Louis police officer was carried away in a vehicle fleeing an apartment parking garage after he confronted and tried to apprehend a suspicious person accused of stealing packages.

Security camera video captured a St. Louis police officer being carried away by a suspect accused of trying to steal items from vehicles early Wednesday.

At about 3 a.m., police responded to a report concerning a suspicious person who was checking car handles in an apartment parking garage, KTVI-TV reports. Officers confronted a person suspected of who was testing to see if vehicles stealing packages 

As police made contact with the suspect, the person tried to escape by speeding away in one of the vehicles he apparently was trying to steal from. In footage from the incident, the officer is seen being carried away in the car before he's able to turn off the ignition.  

The suspect was taken into custody in connection with the incident, and investgators recovered multiple stolen packages

No injuries were reported in the incident.
